Due to the ongoing restrictions regarding the COVID 19 pandemic, we will not be auditioning at any international centres for 2022 entry, and all first round December auditions will be submitted online with a deadline of 4pm on Friday 29th October 2021.

Following the first round submission applicants may be invited to attend online Programme Assessments where they can discuss their suitability for their course with Academy staff. Heads of Department may also invite applicants to discuss their application further, either live or online, and to have the opportunity to perform live if they wish to travel to the Academy. All applicants will be considered for a scholarship award, irrespective of whether or not they are invited to an online interview or live audition.

Details of how to apply and what to perform (or present if you are a composer) can be found in the in the 'courses' area of the relevant Department pages, and on our video auditions page.

The information below is relevant for 2023 entry only.

Academy auditions are held in Asia, Australia and North America for most of our study programmes. However, some studies are only auditioned in London or by video - these are shown in the list below:

  • Opera
  • Jazz
  • Conducting
  • Choral Conducting
  • Répétiteur
  • Composition
  • Research degrees

Musical Theatre auditions are only available in London and New York, or by video.

It may not be possible to audition candidates for Harp, Percussion, Organ or Historical Performance at our host venues. Please email admissions@ram.ac.uk or contact your local audition coordinator before completing your UCAS Conservatoires application. Don’t worry, though, video auditions are another option for these subjects.

Audition requirements are the same as for a London audition (details are on the relevant department page), except that:

  • The audition length may be different
  • Violin candidates do not have to prepare a study

If you do not have an EEA passport you will probably need a visitor visa to attend an audition in London.

We’re happy to help and can provide an invitation letter to support your application. Please contact admissions@ram.ac.uk if you are invited by the Head of Department and if you wish to travel to the Academy. All applicants will be considered for a scholarship award, irrespective of whether or not they are invited to an online interview or live audition.

Unfortunately, we’re not able to support visa applications for audition venues outside the UK.

For information about visas for study, see Visas and Immigration.

If you have questions about auditioning in our Australia and East Asia centres, please contact the official representatives listed below. We do not recognise other agencies.
