Across his career, Max has composed many notable film and television soundtracks, working with directors such as Martin Scorcese, Ridley Scott, Clint Eastwood and Denis Villeneuve. His most recent composition for Hamnet has been recognised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the 98th Academy Awards.
Since 1929, the Oscars have recognized excellence in cinematic achievements. Max is joined in the Music (Original Score) category by composers Jerskin Fendrix (Bugonia), Alexandre Desplat (Frankenstein), Jonny Greenwood (One Battle after Another) and Ludwig Goransson (Sinners).

Hamnet explores the life of William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes Hathaway and is based on the 2020 historical fiction novel by Maggie O’Farrell. The 2025 film, starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal, is directed by Chloé Zhao. The original score was released through Decca Records last November.
