Performance Venues
The Duke’s Hall
Our flagship 319-seat concert venue is the beating heart of the Academy. Built in 1911, this magnificent Edwardian space features a sweeping staircase, stained-glass windows, and a warm, world-renowned acoustic. As a student, this is where you will take to the stage with the Academy Symphony Orchestra and perform alongside globally renowned guest conductors and soloists.
The Susie Sainsbury Theatre
Opened to widespread architectural acclaim, this 309-seat theatre is a masterpiece of modern design. Specifically developed for opera and musical theatre productions, it features a generous stage and a subterranean orchestra pit. It provides our students with a stunning, professional-grade environment to deliver fully staged productions under West End and international-standard theatrical lighting.
The Angela Burgess Recital Hall
Perched high above the theatre, this striking 94-seat rooftop recital hall is flooded with natural light. It features astounding, custom-engineered acoustics, making it an exceptional space for both intimate public performances and high-fidelity audio recordings. It is the perfect venue to trial new contemporary work, present chamber music, or capture your portfolio.
The David Josefowitz Recital Hall
Seating up to 108 people, this sleek, modern space is heavily utilised for masterclasses, video recordings, and intimate chamber recitals. Its clear, responsive acoustic makes it a favourite amongst students for solo performances and peer-to-peer workshops.

Recital, Rehearsal and Teaching Spaces
Practice and Teaching Rooms
Your day-to-day craft is developed in our suite of rehearsal and teaching rooms, with every practice space across our main building and Jebsen House designed to help you focus.
Cross Keys and St Mark’s Church
Students enjoy access to further dedicated practice facilities at our nearby Cross Keys Practice Centre, located just off Marylebone High Street. This includes a state-of-the-art composition suite tailored specifically for contemporary creators and electronic production.
The Academy also enjoys use of the nearby St Mark’s Church, a magnificent space that houses our rare 1763 Neapolitan organ, offering a unique and historic environment for specialised study and rehearsal.
The Forsyth Room
Refurbished to a beautiful standard, this elegant 40-seat space is ideal for smaller, intimate recitals, academic presentations, and masterclasses, offering a more informal yet highly professional setting.

The Academy Museum and Library
Inspiration is never far away. The Academy Museum hosts regular research events and includes on-site instrument workshops, allowing you to connect with centuries of musical heritage. Alongside our extensive library collections, you will have direct access to rare manuscripts, historic instruments, and invaluable research materials to support both your practical and academic studies.
