If you have already included the Academy in your Will, please consider letting us know so that we may thank you for your special gift.

Celebrating Legacy Giving at the Royal Academy of Music

Leaving a gift in your Will

There are several ways to leave a gift, including a specific sum (pecuniary), a share of your estate (residuary), or assets such as property or shares. Larger gifts can also be endowed to provide lasting, ongoing support.

Gifts for general purposes allow the Academy to respond to the greatest need, though you can discuss directing your support if you wish.

Leaving a gift in your Will is a powerful way to support the future of music. If you choose to share your plans with us, you will be invited to join the Hilda Bor Circle, recognising those who have pledged a legacy gift and offering opportunities to stay connected to the Academy.

Free Will writing service

We offer a free, easy-to-use Will writing service for alumni, staff and supporters, with the option to leave a gift to the Academy. A legacy gift helps support future generations of musicians and allows funding to be directed where it is most needed.

You can write your Will online in around 30 minutes or speak to a Farewill specialist. All Wills are checked by qualified professionals and approved by solicitors.

There is no obligation to leave a gift: this remains at your discretion.

Tax and legal information

Gifts to the Academy are exempt from UK Inheritance Tax. Leaving a charitable gift can also reduce the rate of tax on your estate (from 40% to 36% in some cases), helping more of your legacy go to the causes and people you care about.

As this is an important decision, we recommend seeking professional legal advice when writing or updating your Will.
