Victoria Newlyn

Victoria trained as an actor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and worked principally in theatre before moving into the world of opera as a movement and drama teacher, director and choreographer.

Victoria teaches at the Academy, the Guildhall School, and frequently collaborates with British Youth Opera and the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki.

Her work is focused around young and developing artists, enabling expression, agency and ownership of existing and newly-created work. She has directed several opera scenes programmes for both RAO and Vocal Studies.

Victoria has directed productions for British Youth Opera, the Sibelius Academy, Guildhall School, West Green House, the St Endellion Festival, Cambridge Handel Opera and Clonter Opera.

Her choreography and movement direction includes work with National Opera Bucharest, The Opera Group, Opera North, Opera Holland Park, plus many productions for RAO and Guildhall Opera Course.

Victoria continues to perform as an actor, mainly in collaboration with singers and musicians.
