Pavlo Beznosiuk
Professor of Violin and Viola
Pavlo Beznosiuk's teaching is informed by a long and varied career as orchestral leader, soloist, chamber musician and director for over 40 years which has taken him all over the world and embraced repertoire stretching from the Medieval period right through to this Century.
He has held posts as concertmaster with The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, The Academy of Ancient Music, The Hanover Band and is the musical director of The Avison Ensemble. He has a huge discography in all these roles, including world premiere recordings of works by J.J. Walther and Westhoff, J.S. Bach's solo sonatas and partitas, Biber's "Rosary" sonatas, Vivaldi's Four Seasons, and the entire outputs of Corelli and Charles Avison.
A musician with very wide interests, Pavlo has no specialism per se but is particularly associated with 17th Century repertoire, including ornamentation and improvisation. He is especially interested in the physical aspects of playing, studying with three students of the renowned pedagogue D.C. Dounis and the legendary lute teacher Pat O'Brien.
