Paul Morley

Supporting Studies (Composition & Contemporary Music)

Academy students and staff are delighted to have forged a meaningful and genuine relationship with Paul Morley, which is documented in Paul's articles for The Observer in July 2009.

Paul will continue to work with students in discussions on Music Philosophy and Contemporary Culture. He offers unique insights into the intellectual collateral which has built up around classical music over the generations. His thoughts allow us to evaluate which traditions we should protect at all costs, and which are overdue re-evaluation.

The Academy has an unsurpassed roster of composition professors, whose one-to-one tuition will always remain central to every student composer’s work. Paul’s seminars will create important new educational opportunities which will complement and enhance existing teaching. Students — and everyone else who attends our open, public seminars — will learn a lot from him.
