Jim joined the LSO as 2nd Trombone whilst a student at the Academy.

Jim spent 23 years as 2nd trombone in the London Symphony Orchestra and has taught at the Academy for 24 years.

Very active as a composer, Jim has been commissioned a number of times for various ensembles and individuals, including; LSO, Brighton Festival, Onyx Brass, LSO Discovery, Peter Moore, David Elton, Isobel Daws.

Busy as a creative music educator, he is also a tutor for the National Youth Orchestra, as well as coaching and teaching for the Bromley Youth Music Trust.
