Ian Thomas

Professor of Drum Kit (Jazz)

Ian moved to London from Cardiff in 1984 at the age of 21.

Since then he considers himself lucky to have played in many varied musical situations. These include, from the rock and pop world: Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger, Seal, George Michael, BB King, Yuesf and Tom Jones among others. From the jazz and soul worlds: Hamish Stuart, Kenny Wheeler, Jamie Cullum, Jim Mullen, David Sanborn, Al Jarreau and the NDR Big Band.

Ian is also in demand as a studio player, working on albums, and for TV and film. These include, World War Z, James Bond, The Croods, Kung Fu Panda and the TV show The Voice.
