Hannah Roberts is one of the outstanding cellists and mentors of her generation

She has nurtured a significant number of today’s leading cellists on the international stage

Hannah was privileged to have studied with Susannah Roberts, William Pleeth and Ralph Kirshbaum.

A multiple prize winner in competitions such as Shell LSO, BBC Young Musician, Jacqueline Du Pre Memorial and Pierre Fournier awards, Hannah has gone on to give many concerto performances with leading orchestras, including the London Mozart Players, LSO, BBC Concert Orchestra, and the Halle, also making frequent broadcasts for BBC Radio, recording with renowned colleagues for ASV and Decca, and participating in numerous international festivals as both soloist and chamber musician.

In addition her activities as soloist, chamber musician, and principal cellist of Manchester Camerata, Hannah is an internationally sought-after and distinguished teacher. She is professor of cello at the Academy and the RNCM in Manchester, and visiting tutor for the University of Oxford. The international cello course she co founded with Leandro Silvera is now in its eighteenth year and her students have included artists such as Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Abel Selaocoe and many other cellists currently enjoying prestigious international careers as chamber musicians and principal cellists.

She is honoured to have been awarded both an HonRAM and FRNCM, and enjoys working with some of the world’s most gifted young musicians at prestigious international masterclasses each summer.
