George Jackson
Musical Direction and Coaching
George is currently studying Musical Direction and Coaching at the Royal Academy of Music, having recently graduated with a first-class degree in Music from Downing College, University of Cambridge.
While at Cambridge, he worked extensively on student theatre productions with the Cambridge University Musical Theatre Society (CUMTS), serving as Musicians’ Representative in 2024/25. His credits include Musical Director, Orchestrator and Arranger for the CUMTS Gala; Musical Director for Songs for a New World; and Assistant Musical Director for Kiss Me, Kate!, The Last Five Years and the Cambridge University Amateur Dramatic Club/Footlights Pantomime. He is also a former President of the Downing College Music Society.
At the Royal Academy of Music, his credits include Co-Assistant Musical Director for Trev: The Musical Lives of Trevor Nunn and the Agent Showcase, as well as Musical Director and Additional Arranger for a workshop of PIN: A New Musical. George will serve as Co-Musical Director for the Academy’s production of Chess this summer.
In the West End, George has worked as Music Assistant for Love Life: West End Unites Against Cancer and performed in the chorus for To Maury, With Love, both at Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
Alongside his theatre work, George is an experienced singer and vocal coach. He held a choral scholarship with Downing College Chapel Choir and performed as the tenor lead with The Griffin Singers Barbershop Quartet.
George is a recipient of the Tomoro Foundation Scholarship.
