Electra Perivolaris

Electra Perivolaris is a composer and pianist of mixed British and Greek heritage.

Her music is rooted in landscape, community and the shifting relationships between humans and the natural world. Described as 'A Classical Star of the Future' (BBC Introducing), 'One of a new generation of female trailblazers' (BBC Radio 3), and praised for her 'razor-sharp musical imagination' (The Telegraph), she was also profiled by The Herald among ‘Five Young Composers Destined for Bigger Things’.

Electra’s music has been commissioned by organisations including BBC Radio 3, the BBC Singers, BBC Concert Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra Discovery, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Hebrides Ensemble and Scottish Chamber Orchestra. She was the inaugural Young Classical Artists Trust Composer Fellow (2024/25), a Royal Philharmonic Society Composer (2022/23), and a PRS Foundation Classical:NEXT Fellow (2026). She is Composer-in-Residence at the Arran International Festival of Chamber Music and Song, a festival rooted in her Scottish island home, fostering cross-cultural exchange and community-rooted music-making.

Electra teaches undergraduate Music at the University of Oxford, where she has taught tutorials across several colleges. She has also worked with organisations including the London Sinfonietta, Music at Oxford, Scottish Music Centre and Streetwise Opera, creating participant-led projects with children, young people and a wide range of communities. Electra studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (BMus (Hons)) before completing an MMus with Distinction in Composition at the Royal Academy of Music in 2021, where she was awarded the DipRAM for an outstanding final portfolio and the LRAM teaching diploma.

She completed her DPhil in Composition at the University of Oxford, supported by the Oxford Beghian Graduate Scholarship, where she was also awarded the Henfrey Prize for Composition.
