Diomedes studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Michael Cox and Patricia Morris

Diomedes Demetriades was born in Cyprus and studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. Before joining the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2022, he held the position of Principal Piccolo at the Ulster Orchestra from 2018 to 2022.

During his studies at the Royal Academy of Music, Diomedes was awarded the Jonathan Myall Piccolo Prize in 2010. He was appointed Piccolo Professor at the Royal Academy of Music in 2023.

He has performed with orchestras internationally, including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and Gothenburg Opera. 

As a guest player, he continues to appear with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Sinfonia of London, London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Philharmonia Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, English National Ballet, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and the Royal Northern Sinfonia among others.

Diomedes has also appeared as a soloist on flute and piccolo with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.
