Dr Christopher Atkinson

Christopher read music at King’s College Cambridge, then specialised in the clarinet for postgraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music and Hannover Musikhochschule with Hans Deinzer

He won a Countess of Munster Award and a DAAD German government scholarship. This led to a busy freelance orchestral, chamber and recital career with tours throughout Europe and beyond, broadcasts, recordings and appearances as a concerto soloist. More recently, he took up composition, gaining a PhD at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Christopher joined the Academy in 2006 and mainly teaches Techniques and Analysis.
