Simon Carr is a highly experienced multi-instrumentalist and educator with over 40 years of teaching and performing experience

A graduate of Trinity College of Music, Simon has been the LRAM Tutor for Woodwind since 2016.

Throughout his career, he has taught students of all ages — from beginners to advanced musicians — across a wide range of institutions, including state-run music centres and some of the UK’s leading independent schools. Until July 2024, Simon served as Head of Woodwind & Brass at Radley College in Oxfordshire, a position he held for 27 years. In this role, he directed numerous ensembles, led 14 international music tours, managed a team of visiting teachers, and played an active part in recruitment and mentoring.

As a performer, Simon has enjoyed a diverse career spanning orchestral work, session playing, and musical theatre. His theatre credits include extensive work in the West End on productions such as Chess, Company, City of Angels, A Little Night Music, Lady in the Dark, The Phantom of the Opera, Old Friends, and Hello, Dolly!. He has even performed as part of the horn section in an Elvis tribute band, reflecting his broad musical interests and versatility.
