Mingyuan Ruan was the first Chinese accordionist enrolled in Advance diploma in performance at the Royal Academy of Music as a student of Professor Owen Murray.

She is the first Chinese classic accordionist become a London City Music Foundation Artist in 2019 and the first classic accordionist to win the 27th IBLA international music competition "Outstanding Musician" and played as an award-winning contestant at Carnegie Hall in New York, USA.

Passionate about chamber music since the beginning of her career, Mingyuan won the First prize in chamber music of the 64th Coupe Mondiale (CIA) International Accordion competition. She is a Golden Medal winner of the 3rd Berliner International Music Competition and The Golden award winner for solo performance in National Accordion Performance Competition Beijing Arts Festival .

Her accordion music played a major role in the original soundtrack of film Black Coal, Thin Ice, which won the Golden Bear award in the 64th Berlin International Film Festival.

Mingyuan Ruan is devoted to promoting her instrument in classical music. She has frequently played with China NCPA Orchestra (the resident orchestra of the National Centre for the Performing Arts). She also played with Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra, London Accordion Orchestra and many others. She played in numerous concert halls, like NCPA, Mariinsky Theater, London Palladium, Carnegie Hall and so on.
