Juan-Miguel Hernandez has an exceptional profile as an international artist of impressive range and quality

His credentials include success in many major international competitions, and a Grammy award for a collaborative disc with Chick Corea, and membership of three significant ensembles – the legendary Fine Arts Quartet, the Trio Virado (flute, viola, guitar) and the Boreal Trio (clarinet viola piano). He has also collaborated with Itzhak Perlman, Lynn Harrell, the Weilerstein Trio, Norah Jones and Gary Burton, and has worked extensively with Kim Kashkashian. He is a founder member of the Harlem Quartet, which performed at the White House in 2008. As a viola soloist he has an extensive record of performances with distinguished orchestras and conductors, and he has been a guest artist and teacher at the major festivals of classical, jazz and world music.

His strong commitment to educate and engage new audiences all around the globe has allowed him to reach young musicians from all communities through art convoys in South Africa and Venezuela, South America, and outreach projects in Europe and North America. In addition to this vibrant and trailblazing performing career, Jean Miguel is a passionate advocate of viola teaching at the highest level.
