Janet has worked as a vocal coach and répétiteur for numerous opera companies across the UK and abroad, including Wexford Festival Opera, Welsh National Opera, English Touring Opera, Opera Holland Park, Longborough Festival Opera, Dorset Opera Festival, Islenska Operan (Iceland), Opera Africa (South Africa), European Chamber Opera, and Opera Project.
Janet has worked as a vocal coach at the Academy since 2019. In the years previous, she has been Music Director for Opera Scenes at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and a visiting repertoire coach at the Royal College of Music and the Cardiff International Academy of Voice. Additionally, Janet regularly travels to Iceland to coach the singers of the Islenska Operan (Icelandic National Opera) and at the Söngskólinn, Reykjavik, where she has been Music Director on several projects. In the late summer of 2022, Janet travelled to South Africa to coach students on the opera programme at University Cape Town, where she hopes to return in the coming years.
As a Music Director, Janet has collaborated with North Wales Opera Studio for Carmen, La Bohème, and La Traviata, and with Wexford Festival Opera for Trial by Jury, The Wandering Scholar, and Hansel and Gretel as part of the 'Short Works Programme'.
In concert, Janet has performed as an accompanist at many of Britain’s most prestigious concert halls, including St David’s Hall, Cardiff, the Symphony Hall, Birmingham and Cadogan Hall, London. She has given recitals internationally in Spain, Russia, Qatar, New York, Iceland, Ireland and Japan with singers including Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Claire Rutter and Rosalind Plowright.
Janet has a very busy private studio, where she prepares singers for roles in opera houses all across Europe. Her artists have gone on to perform at Teatro alla Scala, Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Oper Frankfurt, Munich Gärtnerplatz, Teatr Wielki (Polish National Opera), Islenska Operan, and New Zealand Opera.
