Dominic was awarded a scholarship in 1989 to study at the Royal Academy of Music under Professor Robin McGee.

He was then offered one to study at Salzburg’s Mozarteum in 1992 to study under Professor Klaus Stoll, Principal Double Bass of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

He has performed concertos with the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchestra of St John’s Smith Square and BBC National Orchestra of Wales. He has also performed with pianist James Pearson on both BBC and commercial radio and television stations, at Wigmore Hall, Southbank Centre and notable festivals and societies throughout Britain and Europe.

As well as solo and chamber music engagements, in 1998 Dominic was appointed Principal Double Bass of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and has recently been appointed Principal Bass of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam.

In January 2015 he premiered Tan Dun’s Double Bass Concerto ‘The Wolf’ with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.

He also freelances with other orchestras and is often guest Principal Double Bass with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, The Halle, London Sinfonietta and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.

Dominic has played on many film and TV soundtracks and commercial recordings. He has also appeared many times on radio or BBC television either as a presenter or player, most recently on Proms on 4, Young Musician of the Year, a judge on BBC2’s Maestro and as a guest at The Last Night of the Proms.
