Christopher read music at King’s College Cambridge, then specialised in the clarinet for postgraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music and Hannover Musikhochschule with Hans Deinzer.

He won a Countess of Munster Award and a DAAD German government scholarship. This led to a busy freelance orchestral, chamber and recital career with tours throughout Europe and beyond, broadcasts, recordings and appearances as a concerto soloist. More recently, he took up composition, gaining a PhD at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Christopher joined the Academy in 2006 and mainly teaches Techniques and Analysis alongside his role as BMus Tutor.
