About Seen & Heard

This programme celebrates the rich musical landscapes of Latin America, bringing together works inspired by spirituality, nature, folklore and national identity. Drawing on indigenous traditions, popular melodies and virtuosic writing, these works reveal a diverse and distinctive musical heritage, balancing lyrical melodies with rhythmic vitality. It is a showcase of some of the most influential voices of 20th-century Latin American music.

An event honouring the heritage of the indigenous peoples of Latin America, and the end of European colonial rule in the early 19th century. This concert features works by two of the main Latin American composers of the 20th century, starting with Heitor Villa-Lobos’ Brazilian Cycle for solo piano. Alberto Ginastera’s Five Popular Argentinian Songs and Villa-Lobos’ Three Indigenous Poems for soprano and piano complete the programme.
