Academy students perform SIDE-BY-SIDE with cellist Adrian Brendel and pianist Joseph Havlat in a concert of music by Hungarian composer György Kurtág, who celebrated his 100th birthday in February.
Kurtág’s work traces a line back to Bach, through Beethoven and Bartók; although modernist in style, it is full of references and homages to earlier composers. This programme sets his music in this context, and includes his own arrangements of music by Bach for piano four-hands.
This concert will be repeated at the Guildhall, Bath, on Wednesday 18 November at 1pm, as part of the Bath Mozartfest.
