These requirements are for students auditioning to start their studies at the Academy in September 2021. Until specified otherwise, these requirements also apply for auditions in future years. Some audition requirements may change: please check back here regularly. Repertoire

You should prepare four contrasting operatic arias in a variety of languages, one of which must be sung in English or English translation.

Audition and recall

The opera auditions take place in two separate rounds, a video round and a recall.

1 October: application deadline in UCAS Conservatoires

16 November, 09:00 UK time: extended deadline to upload videos into the Acceptd portal, details are on our video auditions page.

You should upload two contrasting operatic arias in different languages and your current Curriculum Vitae CV), plus a list of all four arias you have prepared, and your Spoken English item.

You will be contacted on 30 November and we will tell you if you have been selected for recall. The recall process will take place online and if you are selected your Acceptd profile will be reopened.

The panel will select one aria from the remaining two arias in your list. You will choose the second aria, which can be from your first submission, or it can be the fourth aria.

7 December, 09:00 UK time: Recall upload deadline

You should upload

  • the aria selected by the panel, and either:
  • your remaining (fourth) aria or
  • a short text to confirm which of the arias from your first submission you wish to choose.

Candidates who are selected by the panel after the Recall arias have been assessed will be contacted by 17:00 UK time on Tuesday 8 December to arrange a short Zoom interview. The interview will be on Thursday 10 December.

Written requirements

You are not required to submit written work for this course.
