John read music at St John’s College Cambridge and studied as a postgraduate at the Royal Academy of Music.

He was a member of the English National Opera ‘OperaWorks’ programme, and continued his studies privately with Professor Janice Chapman. John has sustained a high-level performing career, highlights of which include Purcell at Theater Bremen, new work by John Adams at English National Opera, concerts of Monteverdi at the Barbican and in Venice, Bach with the RTÉ in Dublin, and workshops of new compositions at the Royal Opera House.

His primary aim as a teacher is to help students develop a sustainable and physically-connected vocal technique, enabling effective and engaging performances. Teaching prioritises a physiological approach to voice usage, is C21st evidence-based, and focuses particularly on alignment and posture, breathing and support, and emotional and acoustical richness.

With his partner, Samuel Queen, he runs London Singers Studio. For more information on John and his teaching please visit www.londonsingersstudio.com.
