The Academy Symphony Orchestra is joined by Manuel López-Gómez for the third movement of Debussy’s much-loved La Mer. Also on the programme was music by Ravel and Falla.

La Mer is one of Debussy’s most popular orchestral works, with critics drawing parallels to artworks by the French Impressionists, as well as JMW Turner and Hokusai.

López-Gómez is a graduate of Venezuela’s internationally renowned El Sistema music programme and is in demand as a conductor in Europe and the Americas. He has been working with the Academy since 2015.
