Preston is the 2022-23 Meaker Fellow at the Royal Academy of Music

Preston Yeo is a British prize-winning violinist who has been captivating audiences with his blend of imaginative and virtuosic playing. Picking up the violin aged four, just three years later he was one of the youngest-ever pupils at the Purcell School. After being discovered by Remus Azoitei in a public masterclass, Preston went on to study at the Academy with full support from the Helen Worswick Scholarship and other trusts. Whilst there, he attained a First-Class Bachelors and a Distinction for his Masters in Performance; a Distinction for the LRAM teaching licentiate; bestowed prizes for outstanding studentship; and awarded an additional DipRAM for an exceptional Masters graduation recital.

At the start of 2022, Preston was appointed Concertmaster of the Worthing Philharmonic Orchestra after rigorous training and extensive experience in orchestral leadership. He was selected for the 2019-20 LSO String Experience Scheme, led the Academy Symphony Orchestra with the Czech Philharmonic, and performed for HRH The Princess Royal and the Duchess of Gloucester. In September 2022, Preston began his role as the 2022-23 Meaker Fellow at the Academy, and began his professorial role at the Junior Academy.

Preston plays the Nicolò Gagliano c.1746 violin, on loan from the Academy.
