Myleene Klass trained in Musical Theatre at Royal Academy of Music before going on to work on West End shows including Miss Saigon. She then broadened her repertoire of work across multiple mediums and has enjoyed incredibly successful careers in pop music, classical music and broadcasting. Myleene has been a regular presenter on Classic FM since 2006 and Smooth Radio since 2014, and has also released three classical albums, one of which reached No 1 in the UK classical charts.

In April 2025 Myleene led a masterclass at the Academy for the current cohort of Musical Theatre students, focussing on performance and the changing landscape of creative careers, and looking at how to develop one's art both on stage and by working across multiple media including TV and radio.

In her role as Visiting Lecturer in Musical Theatre, Myleene will act as an industry mentor to students, teaching and leading masterclasses three to four times a year.

Myleene commented:

‘It’s an incredible honour to be returning to the Academy, especially in the role of lecturer. The Academy gave me the strongest of foundations to be able to forge a career in the music industry. Now I get to help invest in the next generation of performers.’

Daniel Bowling, Gatsby Chair of Musical Theatre, added:

‘As an esteemed alumna who has navigated and excelled at the highest levels of the industry, Myleene brings an unparalleled wealth of experience and insight. Her unique journey, spanning classical music, pop, television, radio and broadcasting, will be an invaluable source of inspiration and practical knowledge for our students, enriching their learning experience and preparing them for the multifaceted realities of a career in musical theatre.'

Myleene joins a roster of other leading professionals who regularly work with Academy students, including multi-Olivier Award winning actress Dame Imelda Staunton and Visiting Professor of Musical Theatre Claude-Michel Schönberg, co-writer and composer of Les Misérables, Miss Saigon and Martin Guerre.

Recent graduates of the Academy's Musical Theatre department include Rob Madge (currently playing Emcee in Cabaret, West End), Paige Smallwood (current understudy for the role of Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Broadway) and Desmonda Cathabel (currently playing Euridice in Hadestown, West End).
