Tell us about your first musical experience, what inspired you to get involved in music?

I guess I’ve always liked music. My first introduction to the world of music was through my classical dance training in Bharatnatyam (a form of Indian Classical Dance which involves South Indian music) when I was 3 years old.

What was your favourite thing about attending Percussion Club?

My favourite thing about attending Percussion Club was learning all the new pieces and being exposed to different types of music, as well as enjoying fantastic facilities with great teachers and the best possible lessons.

I discovered my own potential in music, which increased my confidence and my focus.

What did you learn about yourself?

I discovered my own potential in music, which increased my confidence and my focus. I have learnt that you don't have to play the piece perfectly for it to be its best, but understanding the composer’s emotion while making that music will improve your performance so much that it will definitely touch the audience's heart.

How have you found being a Junior Academy student?

Being a student of such a reputable place makes me very proud. It has opened a new world of music to me, as I’m learning so much from these prestigious teachers. It is a great opportunity to meet so many people from various age groups, all united by music.

What do you enjoy about making music? How does it make you feel?

I enjoy composing as it allows me to create a world of my own, which is rather extraordinary, and allowing other people to listen to my composition makes them think of the world I have created in a different way, specific to them. I have gained prior knowledge about composition via Indian classical music as its main concept is making up beautiful melodies on the spot with some guidelines.

What are you excited about for 2024?

I have been given a place in a Symphony Orchestra and had my first concert with them.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?

I was very scared before I took the leap of faith into the Academy but it has been the best experience possible, better than I could have ever imagined.
