We are pleased to share the news that International Visiting Professor of Trombone, Jörgen van Rijen, and Professor of Tenor Trombone, Dudley Bright, both won awards at the 2023 ceremony.

Jörgen van Rijen received the ITA Award, which recognises an elite level of creative and artistic output in areas such as trombone performance, composition, arranging, teaching, conducting, research, and service. Jörgen is principal trombonist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, and has taught at the Academy for over 10 years.

Dudley Bright received the Neill Humfeld Award for Excellence in Trombone Teaching, which honours teachers who have demonstrated an exceptional level of excellence in their work. Between 2001 and 2018, Dudley was principal trombonist of the London Symphony Orchestra, and currently performs as a freelancer alongside his teaching at the Academy.
