The Academy's former Head of Woodwind, Keith Bragg, shared the following tribute to Angela:

'I had the privilege of working with Angela Malsbury for many years, she was a musician and teacher of exceptional distinction. Her teaching shaped generations of clarinetists, many of whom carry forward her sound, her discipline and her unwavering musical integrity. Beyond her own teaching, her deep knowledge of the clarinet world enabled her to curate a rich and rounded programme of classes with leading clarinet teachers from around the globe.

'Her absence will be keenly felt, but her legacy will continue to resonate through her students, her colleagues and the life of the department she did so much to build.'

Academy Principal Jonathan Freeman-Attwood added:

'Angela was one of the most dedicated, perceptive and engaging professorial colleagues I’ve had the pleasure to work with. She took such immense pride in her students, and well beyond the purview of the clarinet alone. Above all, Angie encouraged students to find their own voice as musicians whilst also introducing those broader ‘life skills’ to unlock opportunity and to find fulfilment. Her sense of fun is unforgettable. I feel enormous gratitude for the incalculable gifts Angie brought to the Academy over decades. Our thoughts go out to David and her family.'
