Timothy Salter is an active composer, conductor and pianist. His compositions include instrumental, chamber and orchestral music, choral music and songs. He has received numerous publicly and privately funded commissions. His music has been recorded on various labels and performed and broadcast throughout the world.
Timothy is a strong advocate of the composer-performer, believing that executant experience has an invaluable effect on composition. Much of his wide-ranging instrumental music has been written for fellow performers.
For many years he taught both composition and performance studies at the Royal College of Music. He is musical director of The Ionian Singers. As a pianist, he performs and records widely with instrumentalists and singers.
