Spacious, colorful, and often quiet (almost to the point of silence), the music of Jon Paul Mayse explores memory, gesture, perception, and the autobiographical. He has worked with many artists including Tabea Debus, Charlotte Barbour-Condini, JACK Quartet, The Hermes Experiment, CHROMA Ensemble, Ensemble Renard, Britten Sinfonia and Mark Padmore, and Ensemble Garage. He won the 2020 Luigi Nono Composition Prize.

Jon Paul co-founded numerous working groups including Live/Wire Electroacoustic Opera Company in Philadelphia, as well as Subpatch and Stomping Ground, both in London. These endeavours, which incorporate elements ranging from gesture technologies to designed scents, have all sought new ways of engaging audiences and re-imagining the concert as curated, multimodal, and narrative.

Jon has studied at Temple University in Philadelphia, the Academy and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London.
