Soprano Alexandra Oomens stars as the title role in Handel’s Semele.

In this aria from the third act, Semele is enraptured by her own beauty and sings ‘Myself I shall adore’. The production, conducted by Laurence Cummings and directed by Olivia Fuchs, views Semele’s vanity through a contemporary lens, with scenes filled with smartphone-wielding onlookers.

The Royal Academy Opera production received praise from Bachtrack, Classical Source and Opera Today.
