Piers Hellawell’s work has been performed around the world by artists such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Hilliard Ensemble and Håkan Hardenberger. The 2012 Delphian CD Airs, Waters was hailed by The Scotsman as 'gorgeously impassioned work... a rich kaleidoscope of inspired creativity'.

In 2016, Wild Flow was performed by the Ulster Orchestra at the BBC Proms; Wild Flow and the trio Up By The Roots, with poet Sinéad Morrissey, appeared on another Delphian disc, Up By The Roots, listed in the 2020 Sunday Times's CDs of the Year.

Projects in 2022 included a new horn/piano work for Finnish horn star Markus Maskuniitty and a Composer in Residence feature at Corbridge Chamber Music Festival. Clare Hammond premieres Rapprochement – Concerto for Piano into Orchestra during 2023. Piers Hellawell is published by Peters Edition.
