Travelling to the Academy

You can plan your journey to us with the Transport for London journey planner: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/journeyplanner.

Underground: our nearest tube stations are Regent's Park (Bakerloo line) or Baker Street (Bakerloo, Jubilee, Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City and Circle lines). Both are a short walk along Marylebone Road from the Academy.

Bus: bus numbers 27, 30, 88, 205, 453 stop immediately outside the Royal Academy of Music. Buses stopping nearby, at Baker Street Underground Station: 2, 13, 74, 82, 113, 139, 189, 274.

Rail: Our nearest mainline railway stations are Marylebone (10 minutes’ walk), Euston and King’s Cross.

Car: There is nearby parking for able-bodied visitors on the Outer Circle of Regent’s Park ( charges apply 9.00am–6.30pm every day) or at National Car Parks (generally around £8 per hour). There are a number of disabled parking bays near to the Academy which Blue Badge holders can park in free of charge:
— City of Westminster: Nottingham Place (see map in link)
— Borough of Camden: Nearest bays in Cleveland Street and Warren Street (see map in link)
— Crown Estate (Regent’s Park): The Outer Circle, which is the road running directly parallel to Marylebone Road, right by the entrance to the park.

Taxis and cars can pull into the slip road directly infront of the main entrance to drop people off. Wheelchair users will find it easier to be dropped off at 48 York Terrace East NW1 4PT, which is near our ramped entrance at York Gate.       

Bike: Barclays Cycle Hire docking stations can be found on:
— Beaumont Street, Marylebone
— Paddington Street, Marylebone
— Tennis courts in Regent’s Park
— Park Road, Regent’s Park (near Baker Street)

Our neighbourhood

The Academy stands on Marylebone Road alongside Regent’s Park and at the edge of Marylebone Village. The Academy is in the heart of London and is easily accessed from all parts of the city and beyond.

Facilities

The restaurant is open on weekdays during term-time for healthy and value-for-money meals, including vegetarian options.

The Academy’s friendly bar, in the basement of the main building, is open most evenings for drinks and light snacks. Interval drinks can be ordered in advance.

AccessDavid Josefowitz Recital Hall

Latest news, 14th February 2012: we regret that the lift in our York Gate building is out of order. Engineers are working to reinstate it as quickly as possible.

An audio CD of the ‘Access guide for visitors’ is now available — please enquire at the Front Desk or General Office.

David Josefowitz Recital Hall
There is ramped access via the side entrance alongside the York Gate building and wheelchairs can be easily accommodated in the Hall.

Duke’s Hall
Wheelchair access is also through the side entrance alongside the York Gate building.

Museum
Ramped access via the side entrance. Staff are available throughout the museum if assistance is required. There are accessible toilets on each floor in the museum building.

Concert Room, Recital Room and Sir Jack Lyons Theatre
These are all accessed by staircases and disabled people may require assistance.

Emergency Evacuation
Disabled refuge areas are provided in the York Gate building. In the event of an evacuation of the building, there is a dedicated marshal to check the refuges and take whatever action is necessary to ensure that people are taken safely out of the building.
