RAVEL Allegro moderato – très doux and Assez vif – très rythmé from String Quartet; Passacaille and Final from Piano Trio; Chansons madécasses; Introduction et allegro

A feast of chamber music to mark the 150th anniversary of Maurice Ravel’s birth, including his sparkling Introduction et allegro and powerful Chansons madécasses, together with movements from the String Quartet of 1903 and the monumental Piano Trio. The concert is accompanied by reflections on Ravel’s life, work and legacy, led by Professor Emily Kilpatrick, author of a new biography of this most enigmatic and entrancing of French composers.
