The 2026 Students Create festival sees Academy students taking over performance venues from lunchtime into the evening over the course of three days. This year’s line-up includes a new interpretation of Orpheus and Eurydice, a concert exploring the history of asylum seekers and a celebration of Morton Feldman’s 100th birthday. Lettres D’Amour is a concert focused on French contemporary harp and voice duets, multiple of which remain unrecorded. We aim to take the audience on a journey using music accompanied by dynamic lighting, projections and props. The programme has a running floral theme, which will be incorporated into the visuals using roses to metaphorically represent changing emotional states. The finale is a debut of a piece written by Billy Ainsworth, setting ‘Fleur Jetée’ (discarded flower) by French poet Armand Silvestre. This will create a contrast to the rest of the concert, expressing unbridled anger as a result of heartbreak.
