Students Create 2026

The 2026 Students Create festival sees Academy students taking over performance venues from lunchtime into the evening over the course of three days. This year’s line-up includes a new interpretation of Orpheus and Eurydice, a concert exploring the history of asylum seekers and a celebration of Morton Feldman’s 100th birthday. The festival will feature 17 world premieres by students from multiple departments.

‘Asylum’ presents a reflective programme representing the history of asylum seekers and the culture of displacement in refugee communities through music. Led by Doraly Gill (cello and voice), this performance will include music to be performed by singer and cellist simultaneously as a means to further explore the boundaries of storytelling through music. From Hungarian folk songs to Henryk Gorecki, including two new works by composers Luca Zucchi and Sarah Henderson, this recital aims to encourage reflection and discussion on our socio-political age.
