Jeroen Berwaerts directs Festmusik der Stadt Wien - Academy Symphonic Brass

Jeroen Berwaerts directs Academy Symphonic Brass in a rousing performance of Richard Strauss’s Festmusik der Stadt Wien.

Berwaerts is a Professor in Residence at the Academy, teaching our students alongside a busy career of jazz, solo and orchestral performance.

Festmusik der Stadt Wien was a piece of occasional music for the Vienna Town Council, written in gratitude as Strauss had been the recipient of its Beethoven Prize the previous year. Strauss conducted the premiere himself on 9 April 1943.
