This is a chance for prospective students and anyone interested in the art of conducting to come and see how the Academy trains its postgraduate conducting students to meet the many and varied challenges of a conducting career.

Following an introduction by Head of Conducting Sian Edwards, Academy conducting students demonstrate how they prepare scores and develop their skills. The music featured will include Brahms’s Variations on a Theme of Haydn and Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune. There will also be an opportunity for participants to conduct a variation of their choice from Brahms’s work at the end of the morning session; please email the address above if you want to take part. Slots are limited and are on a first-come, first-servedbasis.
