Academy Big Band with Dave Liebman

Friday, 29.01.2016 19:30, Duke’s Hall

International Jazz Artist in Residence Dave Liebman joins the acclaimed Academy Big Band for this closing performance of his 2016 residency.

This is a rare chance to hear this NEA Jazz Master in the big band format. Tonight the band plays a mixture of Dave Liebman’s seminal compositions, arranged for big band by some of the greatest orchestrators around, including Vince Mendoza, Alan Baylock and Jim McNeely’s Grammy winning arrangement of ‘Sing, Sing, Sing’. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear the ‘phenomenal’ (The Guardian) Academy Big Band with one of the living legends of jazz music.

‘Liebman is among the most important saxophonists in contemporary music... a leader and artist of integrity and independent direction’ — Downbeat Magazine.
