Scholarships for American students at the Royal Academy of Music

The Academy has close connections with the U.S., and many eminent American musicians have learned their craft within its four walls. These include conductor David Robertson, currently Music Director of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and Chief Conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, as well as acclaimed composer Augusta Read Thomas - who is also one of ASRAM’s Directors.

We often hear about talented young Americans who dream of studying at the Academy to benefit from our unrivalled teaching and performance opportunities, but are deterred by tuition fees and the cost of living in London. We intend to radically increase the number of scholarships we can award, and private philanthropy continues to provide a lifeline for many young hopefuls from the U.S.

The Academy’s cross-Atlantic projects

The Academy regularly partners with the Juilliard School in groundbreaking projects, such as two Proms, a major CD release and the joint commission of a Sir Peter Maxwell Davies opera. Read more about our cross-Atlantic collaboration which has been generously supported by ASRAM.
