International auditions

In the ‘Choices’ section of your UCAS Conservatoires online application, use the ‘Audition method’ box to tell us the audition centre you want to attend. If you have difficulty with the application payment, there is a UCAS Contacts web page which includes a telephone helpline for candidates outside the UK: +44 330 3330 232.

If you want to apply after the advertised deadline for that audition centre but before the audition dates, we will be able to include you if there is space left at the audition centre.

Please email to ask if there is space, before you submit the application.

If we are unable to arrange an audition for a late applicant, the Academy fee that you pay to UCAS Conservatoires will be refunded.

Audition requirements

The audition requirements are the same as for a London audition (details are on the relevant department page), except that:

  • the audition length may be different
  • violin candidates do not have to prepare a study

Please be aware that international auditions are NOT available for:

  • Opera
  • Jazz
  • Conducting
  • Choral Conducting
  • Répétiteur
  • Composition
  • Research degrees

Musical Theatre auditions are only available in London and New York.

We regret it may not be possible to audition candidates for Harp, Percussion, Organ or Historical Performance because of limitations at the host venues. If you wish to audition for one of these principal studies, please email or contact your local audition co-ordinator before you complete your online application.

An accompanist is available at our New York auditions (both sessions) though we regret we are unable to provide an accompanist for the Chicago auditions, or for our Australia and East Asia audition centres.

Harp candidates

You will need to bring your own instrument, because the audition venue cannot provide one and we are unable to advise about harp hire firms in the locality. If you attend our London auditions in December, you can use an Academy harp (see our Harp audition page) – you may find this easier than transporting your instrument.

Application fees

There is a £25 registration fee when you register your details in UCAS Conservatoires as well as the Academy application fee of £150 (UK sterling). Your application will not be processed unless these fees are paid.

You can pay the fees by credit card to UCAS, using the UCAS Conservatoires online payment system when you submit your application, or you can call the UCAS telephone helpline for candidates outside the UK: +44 330 3330 232.

Visa advice

If you are a non-UK or EU citizen you will normally need Tier 4 Adult (General) Student Entry Clearance to study in the UK. Please see our immigration advice for further information, or email the Admissions Manager.
