Due to COVID-19, if your application requires an audition, the first round will now be by video. For further details please see the video audition section.
These requirements are for students auditioning to start their studies at the Academy in September 2022. Until specified otherwise, these requirements also apply for auditions in future years. Some audition requirements may change: please check back here regularly. You are welcome to contact the Admissions Team or the department administrator email@example.com if you have any queries.
This year, all studies are initially assessed by video recording.
29 October, 4pm UK time: deadline to upload audition recordings (including the spoken item) into the Acceptd portal, details are on our video auditions page. Also see the deadline information on Your Application.
Following the first round submission, applicants may be invited to attend online Programme Assessments where they can discuss their suitability for their course with Academy staff. Heads of Department may also invite applicants to discuss their application further, either live or online, and to have the opportunity to perform live should they wish to travel to the Academy. All applicants will be considered for a scholarship award, irrespective of whether or not they are invited to an interview or live audition.
In most cases organ auditions will last for 30 minutes (undergraduate) or 45 minutes (postgraduate). As time is limited for some auditions, you may be interrupted before you have performed a complete piece.
Please point the camera at your side so the assessment panel can see you play at the console, and (if possible) place the microphone some distance away from the instrument. You must upload one unedited video of the complete programme.
Organ, Organ & Church Music: Postgraduates (MA, MMus, Prof.Dip, Adv.Dip)
JS Bach: Either Prelude & Fugue in G, BWV 541 or Prelude & Fugue in G, BWV 550, plus
Your own free choice of piece/s not exceeding 20 minutes in total.
There are specific requirements for written work to support your application (except MA).
