Studying in the Historical Performance department will enable you to further your individual musicianship, instrumental technique, knowledge of historical performance practice and artistic creativity.


Due to COVID-19 first round auditions will now be by video, for details about this please see the video audition section of the website.

The auditions will be held during mid-to-late February; the date and time will be confirmed during January through UCAS Conservatoires ‘Apply and Track’. You will need to:

  • Prepare a piece of your own choice, of not more than 7 minutes
  • Take part in a group improvisation

This will be followed by an interview.
