Troy trained in Musical Theatre at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Professor Qi Zhu. Since then, he has performed across China, including in Shanghai, Beijing, and Macao. Professional theatre credits include Jon in Tick, Tick, Boom... at the Shanghai XG Theatre, cover of Mark and ensemble in the National Chinese Tour of RENT, and Otto and ensemble in the National Chinese Tour of Spring Awakening. Troy has also played various lead roles in original Chinese musicals at theatres such as the Shanghai Grand Theatre and the Great Theatre of China. Other television and music credits include making the top 30 contestants in the national Chinese singing competition Super Boy, performing supporting vocals for TIARAY’s Chinese Tour, and performing as a dancer and vocalist on MGM Macao's mega-show Destiny.
Besides his studies at the Royal Academy of Music, Troy is composer, arranger and Music Director on an original Chinese musical entitled The Butterfly on the Bund 1939, which was the recipient of the prestigious Writing Fund by the Shanghai Cultural Foundation. The show finished a sold-out first run at the Shanghai Grand Theatre in January 2023. Troy has also recorded two self-released, fully produced original singer-songwriter albums.
