Sophie enjoys a diverse and busy freelance career performing, teaching, touring and recording

Working with orchestras including the London Chamber Orchestra, London Contemporary Orchestra, and London Symphony Orchestra. Sophie is Principal Second Violin at Dorset Opera, invited Guest Principal Second for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia and Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, and is in demand as a Leader for young, up and coming groups including the East London Music Group, the Little Orchestra, and Euphonia Productions.

Chamber music has been at the core of Sophie’s fascination with music since she was a child and it will always be an integral piece in her life. As a teenager Sophie lead the Mimosa Quartet, later the Cavell Quartet, and now the Holywell Quartet, and has been the violinist in the internationally renowned Barbican Piano Trio since 2009.

A passionate teacher of her craft, Sophie teaches the violin and chamber music at both the Royal Academy of Music Junior Department, and Eton College. She is Head of Strings for the National Schools Symphony Orchestra Sinfonia, tutors at Pro Corda and Junior Music Works chamber music courses, Yorchestra, and Kings College School Wimbledon. Other branches of Sophie’s educational work include leading Albert’s Band, the Royal Albert Hall’s education and outreach ensemble, which she has done since its inception 8 years ago. With dynamic and inspirational performances at summer festivals including Camp Bestival, regular concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, and a busy spring season of workshops in schools across London.

Sophie directs the York Young Soloists Chamber Orchestra, talented young players aged 14-26, who as well as giving concerts in York, have performed in York Minster’s Midnight Mass service for over a decade, including a live broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
