Joanna holds a BA in Comparative Literature and Drama from the University of Kent, where she was a Music Performance Scholar, and committed member of the university’s Musical Theatre Society, as well as Head Musical Director of its a capella subgroup. Joanna’s credits include As You Like It at the Academy, in which she played Rosalind. Prior to this, she played Raleigh in Journey’s End (Gulbenkian Theatre) and Esmerelda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (The Great Hall, Kent College). Joanna was the recipient of the Foakes Prize for Shakespeare Studies for English and the David Humphries Music Award at the University of Kent. Joanna’s love of performing was kindled in church, where she began singing at a young age. Her gospel music background continues to influence her ‘sound’.
