Welcome to the Timpani and Percussion Department’s online Open Day!

Our timpani and percussion students study with an excellent roster of professors, many of whom are principal players in leading symphony orchestras and ensembles.

Employability is key to the ethos of the department – we aim to enable students to have full, rewarding and varied careers. Exposure to a wide variety of related study areas helps provide students with the necessary skills for their continual development.

You can read about the department on our main Timpani & Percussion Department webpage and contact the department administrator to talk about whether this is the area of study for you, or to submit questions about studying at the Academy ahead of the open day.

To get a feel for the sort of music our students perform you can take a look at some recorded highlights from the department in our showreel below, as well as the rehearsal of Mahler's No 3 Final Movement with Klemperer Chair of Conducting, Semyon Bychkov.

You can catch up on our Open Day Webinar from September 2022 below.
