Stringed instrument:Viola by Andrea Frandsen, France, 2014

The model of the viola is of Andrea's own construction strongly inspired by the work of Giacomo Gennaro. The back is made of two pieces of quarter cut Bosnian maple with small to medium size flames assembled in a way that the flames incline downwards to the right. The ribs and head are from the same log. The top in two pieces is made of spruce from the Italian Alps. It has a medium annual growth. The instrument is covered with Andrea's own varnish of a warm golden-brown colour. It is a full varnish with no artificial wear in keeping with the Calleva Collection.
